Description
This tactile 3D model presents a convex plan of the Polish holm located on Ostrów Lednicki. It was developed as a pilot project to evaluate the potential of 3D printing for producing tactile site plans that improve access to cultural heritage for blind and visually impaired visitors.
The model was donated free of charge to the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica, where it is permanently displayed as part of the museum’s accessibility initiatives. Its primary purpose is to enable users to explore the spatial layout of the island and the holm through touch, providing an intuitive understanding of the site’s organization.
The model was designed to maximize the available printing area of the Original Prusa MK3S+ 3D printer, utilizing the entire build platform to achieve the largest possible tactile representation while maintaining a single-piece print.
