The basic arrangement of elements within the tactile map composition is shown below. Alternative layouts are also acceptable, depending on the shape and characteristics of the mapped area. At least half of an A3-sized sheet should be dedicated to the main map content. It is recommended that the legend be placed on the left side of the map, or below it if the shape of the mapped area does not allow for left-side placement. The map must also include, at minimum:
the map title (positioned above the legend),
additional elements placed to the right of the map content, such as the orientation indicator, information about the author and publication date, and references to external supplementary materials (e.g., audio descriptions).
In the upper-right corner of the sheet, a raised tactile element is included to support map orientation.
